EXPERTISE

Manchester Trade serves businesses, trade associations, and educational institutions that have a stake in guarding against, reducing, or eliminating government-imposed obstacles to international trade and trade-related transactions. It has successfully shielded its clients from excessive import duties, costly customs entry procedures, import quotas, and a myriad of other non-tariff barriers to trade and investment flows. It has also been successful as the originator of U.S. trade legislation that has provided its clients relief from unnecessary import burdens and restrictions.

Manchester has conducted comprehensive studies of various aspects of the U.S. trade law, the World Trade Organization’s Agreements on Trade in Goods and Services, the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI), the Andean Trade Preference Act (ATPA) and the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). We also keep under review new trade initiatives such as the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and working closely with governments and business in the hemisphere on the challenges and opportunities arising out of the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA).

Manchester’s work has also specialized on market access initiatives into the U.S. for apparel and textile goods from the Caribbean Basin, South America, and Africa, including direct trade policy and business support to apparel producers operating in these countries.
