Reinier Lock, is an international energy lawyer focusing on emerging markets and corporate and government clients in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. He works with major international financial institutions, energy corporations and governments and state-owned energy companies and energy regulators in structuring energy deals for emerging markets, and new frameworks for energy trade, development and private sector participation. He has specialized, inter alia, in the energy implications of free trade arrangements, the development of special trade regimes for energy (e.g. under NAFTA) and specialized inter-country energy arrangements, such as regional markets in Africa and Central America, inter-country geothermal production and trade arrangements in the Caribbean, and the potential for LNG expansions in the North American markets. He is an expert on project finance and development in the energy area.
